Change and growth are constant at the Water Resources Research Institute

By: Jason R. Barrett
Much like farming cycles across Mississippi, we're always in motion at the Water Resources Research Institute—and the growing season is especially active.
Most employees are out in the field leading projects at our Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station (MAFES) research stations in Brooksville and the Delta; and providing hands-on assistance to growers in Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana.
It's also a time when we begin reaping the benefits of grant proposals submitted the previous year and responding to calls for new proposals to sustain our operations and research activities well into the future.
Recently, we completed an eight-month construction project that added more office space to our building on the Mississippi State campus, providing room for growth.
As a team that supports and directs student-led projects and research, our staff is continuously evolving as employees graduate, move on to other projects, and explore different academic and career options.
We know that change drives growth. An important part of our mission is preparing the next generations of scientists to take on challenges, solve problems and make a difference—no matter what path they take into the future.
You'll learn more about team members on the move in this issue of WATERMARKS and enjoy a preview of MSU's Water and Energy Conference coming in October.
