Polysulfate amendments to reduce methane from rice

Abstract

This study tests whether polysulfate-based soil amendments reduce methane production in flooded rice by limiting the acetate available to methane-producing bacteria.

Methods

Across three Delta farmer fields, treated and control plots are compared; soils are analyzed for acetate and incubated to measure methane bursts by GC-MS at MSU's Hand Laboratories.
